What is Kottakkal ?

Arya Vaidya Sala Kottakkal, popularly referred to as Kottakkal or AVS, is a charitable institution which has been engaged in the practice and propagation of Ayurveda for over a century. Kottakkal offers traditional Ayurvedic medicines and authentic Ayurvedic treatments and therapies to patients from all over India and abroad.

Kottakkal has also undertaken the cultivation of ayurvedic plants in an attempt to preserve and study medicinal plants. Kottakkal in the 21st Century

AVS Kottakkal was founded in the  Kottakkal district of Kerala in 1902 by the visionary physician and philanthropist, Vaidyaratnam P.S. Varier. Initially functioning as a village clinic, it has now grown into a multidisciplinary and multi-crore organization. 

Today, AVS Kottakkal manages Ayurvedic Hospitals in Kottakkal, Delhi, and Kochi. All classical Ayurvedic medicines, therapies and expert medical advice are available in their hospitals as well as their website. 

AVS Kottakkal also has three modern medicine manufacturing units attached with well equipped quality control labs. These factories produce more than five-hundred traditional and modern formulations which are made available to patients through twenty-six branch clinics and over sixteen-hundred authorized dealers across the country.
